Dear Comrades,
Greetings from the humble executive,
It has been an audacious effort one after another since the year began. We have to agree that we have made great strides towards achieving what we set for at the beginning of the year. There is no need to repeat what we have all achieved thus far as a group –academic visits to more than half the schools in mwea, participation in both Mwea West and Mwea East prize giving days, participation in planning the South Ngariama harambee that raised more than 1.2 million for erection of classes, Mwea Classic Marathon and so many other even despite of everyone busy schedules. Congratulations to everyone for that.
Anyway, allow me to say that our main aim for this 3rd quarter notice is to highlight important events planned to occur in our final quarter of the year. Recently, the MUCSA executive saw it necessary that we as university and college students with that added advantage of future hope and more tendency to make an informed choice should interact with the youths at grass root level to at least share with them what we stand for especially with reference to the coming elections. We cannot definitely hide in a cocoon and ignore the fact that we Mwea youths desire for great leadership at Mwea yet the large share that vote make very irrational choices that come to haunt us.
In that respect we sought a meeting with Mwea Youth Network (MYN) executive which took place last Thursday. Those present came with the following resolution:
1. We Mwea youths have so many issues to address but of utmost importance, we need youth sensitization on making good choices of leaders come 2013, why not to be influenced by contestants coming with monies and other fake incentives like beer amongst other.
2. That members from either groups (MUCSA members and MYN members) for a common goal to both parties should act together in our efforts to meet the main resolution above. However, either of us remain autonomous with duty to honor our different constitutions and membership responsibilities to our groups.
An agreement was reached that we should visit youths as per the eight wards at Mwea, a visit to a ward each Saturday. Allow me to quote from the day’s minutes to see the facilitator and dates for each ward.
1. Kangai – Margret Gitari (MUCSA) – 13/10/12
2. Murinduko –Antony Munene (MYN)– 27/10/12
3. Mutithi – Edwin Wahome (MUCSA) – 3/11/12
4. Tebere – Daniel Njuguna (MUCSA) – 10/11/12
5. Thiba – Kiragu (MYN)-17/11/12
6. Nyangati – Charles Chomba (MYN) – 24/11/12
7. Wamumu – Luke Karimi (MYN) – 8/12/12
Nb: Gathigiriri was not given any date but was to be covered in the visits to Nyangati and Tebere
To conclude the visits we plan to have a joint grand convention at Ngurubani stadium on 15th, December 2012.
A committee to oversee the joint project was formed under leadership of :
1. Daniel Njuguna-chairman-MUCSA
2. Ann Wangechi- vice chair-MYN
It is with respect to the above busy schedule that we are convening an all members meeting on October Saturday 6th, at Fig Tree Hotel commencing 2.00pm. There will be communication by sms but kindly lets inform each other. Address any questions to any of the leaders. Any changes made will be communicated so keep busy at facebook and twitter-Mucsa_mwea
Again on behalf of the chairman, all the executive and our patron let me thank you all and wish you an exemplary academic year ahead. Thank you.
